South Hero Library Announces New Name

Several years ago, Dr. Ed Worthen inspired us by leaving the majority of his estate to start the funding for a new South Hero Library.  In honor of Ed and in recognition that our community is supported by the big-heartedness of individuals, the Library Board of Trustees has named the new facility, currently under construction at its new site on Route 2 in South Hero, The Worthen Library.   Read more here!

The Worthen Society Celebrates Generosity

make-donationThe Worthen Society has been established to recognize those who have made a financial commitment to ensure that future generations of Champlain Islanders will have a robust library. Local taxpayer dollars only cover current operating expenses. Your private donations are needed to create an endowment to support your new building and additional services, to perpetuate a truly great public library.

If you’re thinking about donating to the Endowment Fund, don’t hold off – your help is needed!  Please visit the Library Foundation’s page to find out how you can make a difference in our fundraising effort.

Curious About the New Building?

We invite you to learn more about the future library on our separate website about the project. We will post occasional construction and fundraising updates there as we head toward completion of the library at its new Route 2 location, in 2019.
