Summer Reading Kickoff Lawn Party  Saturday June 19th 10am We’re kicking off summer reading with a lawn party! We’ll have lawn games, popsicles, prizes, and more!  

Family STEAM Challenge Saturday June 26th 10am Tallest Tower Challenge. Use the materials provided to build the tallest tower. There will be prizes!

Must Free Speech Endure Hate Speech Tuesday June 29th 7pm The First Amendment prevents Congress from passing any laws that abridge the freedom of speech. But what does that actually mean? In this presentation, professor Meg Mott considers the history of speech laws in the United States, how states and municipalities have tried to curb offensive speech, and how the Supreme Court has ruled on those efforts.

Printmaking Wednesday June 30th 10 am Make your own prints using linoleum carving. 8 and up. (8 to 10 with an adult’s help)

Breeding Radicals Wednesday July 7th 7pm 

These little mushrooms are so cute! Needle Felt your own. 8 and up. (8 to 10 with an adult’s help, those needles are sharp!)

Of Wheelmen, the New Woman, and Good Roads Saturday July 17th 11am UVM professor Luis Vivanco explores the fascinating early history of the bicycle in Vermont, a new invention that generated widespread curiosity when it arrived here in the 1880s. 

Archer Mayor: Vermont Author Talk Friday July 23rd 6pm A former detective, EMT, firefighter, and ski patroller, Archer Mayor is currently a death investigator for Vermont’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. He loosely bases his highly acclaimed crime series, featuring detective Joe Gunther, on field experience.

The Chicago Tribune describes his novels as “the best police procedurals being written in America,” and The New York Times calls Mayor “the bossman on procedures” and “one of the most sophisticated stylists in the genre”. 

Family STEAM Challenge Saturday July 24th 10am Catapult Challenge. Use the materials provided to build the catapult that with the farthest launches. There will be prizes! 

Sew Your Own Tussuti Apron Saturday July 24th 10am Sew your own Tussuti Apron with Abby from Abby Huston Designs. Buy and cut your own fabric and Abby will instruct the class on how to make this amazing apron.

Vermont Raptors Wednesday August 4th 2:30pm Meet the birds of prey! Three to four live hawks, owls and falcons will come for a face-to-face exploration of what it takes to be a raptor. 

Compass Making and Scavenger Saturday August 7th 10amWe are joining with the SHLT at the new story walk at Round Pond! Come make a compass and explore the story walk with it! Drop in any time from 10-11!

Comic Workshop Wednesday August 11th 2pm 

Join cartoonists Dan Nott and Daryl Seitchik for a workshop about using comics to explore the causes that are most important to you. Dan and Daryl will also be giving a tutorial on how we can use comics and simple drawings to express ourselves and the issues we care about – like fighting for equality and increasing awareness about climate change. 13 and up.

Tie Dye Party! Saturday August 14th 10am We’re tie dying outside. Everyone will get a t-shirt or you can bring whites from home. Please let us know you’re coming so we can make sure we have enough dye for all. 

Author Talk: Glenn Fay Wednesday August 18th 6pm Glenn Fay author of Vermont’s Ebenezer Allen: Patriot, Commando and Emancipator.
